What’s Hot: Lands’ End Swimwear
By Jen Cano, Certified eBay Consultant and Contributing Editor for eBay Radio
Hello eBay Sellers, I’m HammerTap’s Jen Cano with a What’s Hot on eBay newsflash.
Nothing says summer like swimwear, and I’ve consulted HammerTap research software to discover how to sell one of the hottest brands on eBay. Lands’ End suits are in high demand, but are also in high supply. About 63% of these listings sell.
As always, I’m going to tell you how to bump up that sales rate, and how to get a better sales price. Regular auctions without buy it now are going to give you the best chance of selling, but fixed price auctions will get you the best price. Then, listings ending on a Monday sell most often, but those ending on Tuesdays get the highest sales prices. Finally, more sales are made between 9 and 5 Eastern Standard Time, but listings ending between 5 and 8 get a better price.

What’s Hot: Fiction Books in Books
By Jen Cano, Certified eBay Consultant and Contributing Editor for eBay Radio
Hello eBay Sellers, I’m HammerTap’s Jen Cano with a What’s Hot on eBay newsflash.
Fiction books in the Books category is one of the hottest on eBay. According to HammerTap research, books in demand include Christine Feehan’s Dark Demon (averaging 80%) , Paetro and Patterson’s 5th Horseman (averaging 84%), and books on the paranormal (averaging 75%).
But, we all know that high sell-through rates don’t mean high selling prices. Let’s take a look at how to boost selling prices for the 5th Horseman. HammerTap research reveals that dutch auctions, with a reserve, and a ten day duration close this hot-seller for $5 more than the average.

What’s Hot: Collector's Sets
By Jen Cano, Certified eBay Consultant and Contributing Editor for eBay Radio
Hello eBay Sellers, I’m HammerTap’s Jen Cano with a What’s Hot on eBay newsflash.
Selling a collector’s item? You can never underestimate the importance of knowing exactly which words the most motivated buyers will use to search for your items.
This week, I used HammerTap to take a look at how to sell a collector’s set of the TV series Friends. The results were stunning—almost unbelievable. Listings with the word “collectors” (with no apostrophe) sold for around $83. Listings using the word “collector” (with no “s”) sold for around $93. Then, listings with the word “collector’s” (with an apostrophe), sold for $105. Who would have guessed that such a small, simple thing would make such a huge difference to a sellers’ bottom line?

By Jen Cano, Certified eBay Consultant and Contributing Editor for eBay Radio
Hello eBay Sellers, I’m HammerTap’s Jen Cano with a What’s Hot on eBay newsflash.
Let’s talk about what’s hot in women’s shoes this season. I used HammerTap research to identify top-selling shoes, and found brands such as NAOT, Gallup, Arizona, and Vasque. A brand that is not quite as successful, but is still fairly hot is Asics Gel-Kayano running shoes, and I wanted to give you some tips about how to get these sporty little shoes moving on eBay.
According to HammerTap market research, regular auctions with Buy It Now sell 95% of the time. Plus, listings ending on Wednesdays, with a gallery photo, sold for around $105. That’s $30 more than the average!

What’s Hot: Classic Records
By Jen Cano, Certified eBay Consultant and Contributing Editor for eBay Radio
Hello eBay Sellers, I’m HammerTap’s Jen Cano with a What’s Hot on eBay newsflash.
According to HammerTap research, the #5 highest-selling category by volume is Records in the Music category. Once again, the average sales rate for this category is startlingly high. So, those last few areas for growth are a little more difficult to capture.
I used HammerTap research software not only to discover records that had the highest chances of selling, I looked for albums that brought in the highest selling price. Here we go. Record labels with the highest chances of selling are Coltrane, Sonny & Cher, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones. For highest price, Bach, jazz albums, and, once again, the Rolling Stones.
